"message": "Because the ostree locks down /lib/* , it might be necessary for this feature to allow a symlink from say /lib/firmware/updates/ to point to somewhere writable by the app (such as /var/lib/firmware/updates/). \n\nCurrently, /lib/firmware/intel/ice/ddp/stx-ice.pkg is a symlink to /lib/firmware/updates/intel/ice/ddp/stx-ice.pkg . I think we\u0027d want to preserve the original StarlingX stx-ice.pkg, so perhaps a solution where we make the /lib/firmware/updates/intel/ice/ddp/stx-ice.pkg point to somewhere writable and make /lib/firmware/intel/ice/ddp/stx-ice.pkg a hardlink is the way to go. \n\n/lib/firmware/updates/* is searched before /lib/firmware/* (at least for the ice driver)",
